EXECUTIVE SUMMARY OF AUTHENTIC DEVELOPMENT AGENCY (ADA) BURUNDI
Authentic Development Agency Burundi (ADA Burundi) is a humanitarian organization affiliated to Authentic World Ministries. This organization was founded by Dr Apostle Paul GITWAZA in 2000. The vision focuses on humanitarian initiatives and sustainable community development. ADA Burundi was approved in 2014 by Ministerial Order NO.530/1650 of 8/10/2014 as a non-profit association.
The vision of ADA Burundi is to: “promote a society where the vulnerable population thrives and participates fully in community and national development”. In so doing, ADA focuses on humanitarian initiatives and sustainable community development.
ADA mission is to: “contribute to the improvement of livelihoods and the promotion of the rights of marginalized people and their inclusion in socio-cultural, economic and political life for holistic development”.
The overall ADA objective is Promoting the humanitarian initiatives and sustainable development.
ADA Burundi focuses on the following strategic developmental areas of intervention:
- Fight against poverty;
- Promotion of socio-economic inclusion;
- Promotion of youth employment;
- Promotion of education and health;
- Promotion of human rights;
- Promotion of peace and peaceful coexistence;
- Promotion and protection of the environment.
ACHIEVEMENTS:
Since 2014, ADA Burundi has accomplished the following achievements:
- ADA has supported and provided health care, food and education for children, young pupils and students from poor and vulnerable families;
- It assisted patients at Prince Régent Charles Hospital in Bujumbura;
- The organisation assisted populations affected by the Carama and Gatunguru floods;
- ADA supported and organised a workshop with a theme: “A woman more than a mother”;
- Established a commission for young people responsible for developing the entrepreneurial culture and support-coaching during the creation and management of IGAs;
- Established and organized a football team made up of young talented boys aged 15 to 20, called MOSES GENERATION FC;
- Organized a training and seminars of women for the promotion of their rights, transformational development and the promotion of women leadership;
- Organized a training and seminar of 10 youth members about challenges and the dynamics of job creation and poverty reduction;
- Trained 70 women on hygiene and nutrition;
- Participated and supported a musical competition with the theme: “UNITY IN DIVERSITY”;
- Participated in emergency campaigns initiated by the City of Bujumbura to support the poor and vulnerable populations of Buterere and Kanyosha;
- Participated in initiatives of peaceful coexistence and cultural development, promotion of artistic talents of young people in the fields of music, theatre and poetry;
- Granted 100 beneficiaries with school materials: notebooks, pens, etc;
- Supervised 250 young people and organized an inter-district football match and awareness campaign through theatre with themes aimed at changing mindsets and promotion of family and community development;
- Provided 160 households with 1 ton of rice and 1 ton of beans;
- Provided 50 households with 500 kg of rice and 500 kg of beans and 24 loin cloths.
In the future plan, a number of projects are in pipeline.
