Mount Hermon Community Development Project

Project background:

In the heart of Rwanda, among the green hills, there’s a special place called Mount Hermon. It sits proudly on the Hill of Giheka in Kagugu cell, Kinyinya sector, holding a story as captivating as the ancient scriptures that mention it.

Imagine a scene straight out of a poem: King David describes unity among God’s people like the dew of Mount Hermon falling on Mount Zion. It’s a beautiful picture, showing how harmony and togetherness bring life and blessings.

But Mount Hermon’s story gets even more interesting. Years ago, Apostle Dr. Paul Gitwaza had a vision. In a forested area with no roads, God showed him the sacredness of this place. What was once just a hillside would turn into a special sanctuary, a safe haven for believers from all over the world.

What makes Mount Hermon even more unique is its history. In a country haunted by the horrors of genocide, Mount Hermon stands tall as a symbol of hope. It’s the only mountain in Rwanda where such terrible things didn’t happen. It’s a place of peace in a land that’s been through so much pain.

Now, picture what’s in store for this special mountain. There are plans to build not just buildings, but places of faith—a church, a Bible school, and an altar where prayers from around the world will be heard. Mount Hermon isn’t just a piece of land—it’s a place where unity, faith, and hope come together, welcoming everyone who seeks comfort and inspiration.

So next time you find yourself near the Hill of Giheka, take a moment to look at Mount Hermon. Remember its past and its bright future. It’s a sanctuary of peace and a beacon of hope for all who come near.

Project overview:

The Mount Hermon Community Development Project aims to transform the landscape of Mount Hermon into a vibrant and sustainable community, providing housing, infrastructure, and amenities for residents. Led by Authentic Development Agency and other partenrs , this project seeks to foster economic empowerment, social cohesion, and spiritual well-being within the community.

Key Components:

1. Miracle City Residential Development:

This arena is a fifteen thousand seater, with the flexibility of hosting a smaller number of people with its high-end design. The arena will be highly equipped and connected with the ability to broadcast across the world through satellites while being operational 24/7 non-stop with services, prayer sessions, praise and worship sessions in rotation. In its quarters, the Zion Arena will house the Authentic museum where all nations’ spiritual and religious journeys are represented to emphasize the dominance of the kingdom of God in the world.

Miracle City

This is a residential area with housing units of all kinds built and designed to service people with all needs. This city will be on Mount Hermon, in a serene, and calm environment neighboring the temple of God, prayer gardens, roads designed as the Menorah with sounds emerging from beneath just as the New Jerusalem city where the saints will live with the Lord Jesus.

A housing project featuring slightly over 200 apartments is currently underway. The apartments come in three configurations: single-room, two-room, and three-room units. Although the master plan for the project has not been finalized, registrations are currently being accepted. Interested individuals can register and make an initial payment as a commitment fee. Once the master plan is released, those who have registered can proceed to select their preferred apartment, beginning with the deposited amount.

S4H (Save For Home)

The Save For Home project is primarily designed for individuals, especially youth, who do not currently own a home. Through this initiative, individuals can open an account with TC KIRA and save a fixed amount each month over a period of three years (36 months). By saving 195,000 Rwandan francs per month, participants will accumulate the necessary funds to acquire their own home. TC KIRA will provide the remaining amount after the three-year savings period, ultimately granting individuals the key to their new home.

The Save For Home project comprises three key components. Firstly, individuals are encouraged to save a fixed amount each month. Secondly, the savings are specifically designated for acquiring a house. Lastly, the project aims to generate employment opportunities, with in-house youth forming groups to participate in the construction of these homes. This holistic approach will address financial stability, housing needs, and employment generation within the community.

Infrastructure Development:

The project will include the construction of essential infrastructure such as roads, utilities, and community facilities to support the growing population of Mount Hermon. Infrastructure development will be planned and executed in alignment with sustainable and environmentally conscious principles.

Community Amenities:

Alongside housing and infrastructure, the project will focus on the development of community amenities such as parks, recreational areas, and educational institutions. These amenities will contribute to the overall quality of life for residents, fostering a sense of belonging and community pride.

Financial Requirements:

The Mount Hermon Community Development Project requires significant financial investment to realize its objectives. Funding sources will be sought through partnerships with governmental agencies, private investors, and philanthropic organizations.

Project Goals:

1. To create a thriving and sustainable community on Mount Hermon, providing residents with access to quality housing, infrastructure, and amenities.

2. To empower individuals, particularly women and youth, through the provision of affordable housing options and financial literacy programs.

3. To promote social cohesion and community engagement through the development of shared spaces and recreational facilities.

4. To establish Mount Hermon as a model for sustainable community development, showcasing the potential for holistic growth and prosperity.

Project Duration:

The Mount Hermon Community Development Project will be implemented over a multi-year timeline, with phased construction and development activities. Regular monitoring and evaluation will be conducted to track progress and ensure alignment with project objectives.

The Mount Hermon Community Development Project represents a significant opportunity to transform Mount Hermon into a vibrant and sustainable community. Through the collaborative efforts of Authentic Development Agency and Trust Capital KIRA Microfinance PLC, supported by various stakeholders, this project aims to uplift individuals and families while fostering a sense of belonging and pride in the community.
